In order for Spring Hill to be granted such an impressive honor, the city must meet certain requirements. Without a doubt, the community has been happy to comply. Here are the following requirements:

  • Tree care ordinance
  • Community forest budget of $2 per capita.
  • An Arbor Day proclamation or observance

Dan Lambe, the president of the Arbor Day Foundation explains, “Tree City USA communities see the impact an urban forest has in a community first hand. Additionally, recognition brings residents together and creates a sense of community pride, whether it’s through volunteer engagement or public education. Trees provide multiple benefits to a community when properly plants and maintained.
