The goal of the John Barleycorn Awards is to recognize the most impressive spirits in the industry, so we were truly honored to learn that both our Barrel 42 and our Distiller’s Cut bourbons took home Silver awards. Judging factors are based on taste, marketing, and design, and are overseen by a panel of journalists and industry professionals with extensive experience in the field. The competition itself is part of the larger John Barleycorn Society, which was founded by a group of spirits journalists who set out to call attention to those products they perceive as going above and beyond.
2022 was a big year for the Denver International Spirits Competition, with a full 20% more entries than the previous year. This made the Silver awards we received for our Barrel 42 and Distiller’s Cut bourbons that much more exciting, since we were up against a massive number of our talented industry peers. This competition, which is the largest spirits competition in the Rockies, is now in its 11th year, and is open to all craft and commercial distillers, as well as importers and distributors of distilled spirits.
