Mike Denny is a self-made and motivated entrepreneur with the ability to conceive business ideas and opportunities as well as diligently execute projects and manage businesses. Mike grew up learning the construction trade from his father in the home building and contracting business and utilized this knowledge and spirit to form his own construction business immediately after high school. Mike continued this business throughout his accomplished career while always creating businesses versus choosing employment.

Mike started and operated ACS Concrete from 2005 to 2019. Mike built what is now known as The Bowery as his primary office location and operations building for ACS in 2015. After Construction the space was built with such unique architectural and landscape concepts that other business opportunities arose from it. Shortly after Construction was completed Mike started an Event Space company called Bowery Events catering primarily to wedding events that were hosted at this new facility. This endeavor quickly took off with great success. After 3 years of operations at the facility with both ACS Construction and Bowery Events neighboring in the same building, Mike saw yet another opportunity to start on the 30 acre grounds and buildings.  That new venture was Bull Creek Distillery founded in 2018.  Mike Had a long time passion for distilling, tinkering around with making his own home made still he has novice knowledge on the distillation process but was eager to learn more.

In May of 2018 Bull Creek Distillery opened its doors to the public as Spring Hill’s one and only distillery, Restaurant and Music Venue.  Bull Creek was met with immediate success and had to grow rapidly to keep up with demand. This is when Mike decided to hang his hard hat up in 2019 and focus his energy on the hospitality industry.  Mike now works solely on the operations of Bowery Events and Bull Creek Distillery along with developing new ideas that run parallel to the expansions of both businesses. 

Dwaine Hood

Director of Operations Bull Creek Distillery / The Bowery / Still House

Dwaine has served as the Director of Operations for two years, Master Distiller for one year and General Manager for a year at Bull Creek Distillery. He has been a driving force behind the Bull Creek Distillery, is extremely proud of the premium quality spirits produced and the multitude of awards their lines of spirits have been awarded in recent years. In 2022 alone, the Bull Creek Bourbons, Whiskey and Vodkas were recognized with 20 competition awards from the likes of Sunset Magazine Spirits Competition to the North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition to the Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards. Bull Creek was also named the Kansas Distillery of the Year by the New York International Spirits Competition in 2022.

Dwaine earned a bachelor’s in Business Administration with a minor in Digital Marketing. He brings his extensive operations experience from the military serving four years in the US Navy aboard fast attack submarines based out of Groton, CT, five years in the US Army stationed at Fort Drum, NY and two deployments to Afghanistan. Dwaine then medically retired due to injuries received in Afghanistan. Dwaine has been married to his wife Michelle for 19 years and has four amazing children including Makenzie (18), Mason (13), Marcus (11) and Madden (10).

Courtney Carr

Venue Director The Bowery

Courtney is the Venue Director  here at The Bowery at Bull Creek, and is passionate about the events industry and providing world class service. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Leadership, Food and Beverage and Events Management from Missouri State University. She has worked for companies including Walt Disney World, Bass Pro Shops and more. Her hard work definitely shows in the wonderful way she takes care of the management side of things, as well as in her seemingly effortless approach to event planning.

Shannon Carpenter

Venue Manager The Bowery

Shannon joined the Bowery team as the Venue Manager prior to the 2022 event season and is so happy to be a part of this amazing team of people! She previously spent several years working in management and hospitality and has always had a huge passion for special events and weddings. Shannon genuinely enjoys being a part of the process, from the first sit down with customers, to seeing all your visions come to fruition on your special day. She will make sure that your event goes exactly how you want it to and will do everything needed to ensure the Bowery is the perfect venue for you. Shannon adores what she does and feels it’s an absolute privilege to work with and around so many wonderful people.

Shelby Hood

General Manager Still House
Shelby is the General Manager of The Still House restaurant at Bull Creek Distillery. She has been with Bull Creek since 2020 and started with us as a server, who with hard work and dedication has worked her way up. Shelby has worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years now and brings a creative, well versed, edge to our management team. Driven by her close family upbringing, she takes pride in providing a memorable experience for you and your loved ones.

Belen Carrete

Assistant Manager Still House
Belen initially began as a bartender at Bull Creek Distillery in 2018. It wasn’t long before she received a promotion to Assistant General Manager. She is an invaluable member of the management team with well over 30 years of experience in all aspects of the industry.  Belen’s work ethic and dedication are outstanding. Her charisma radiates a welcoming atmosphere for guests and staff alike. Belen’s listening skills and empathy are authentic, as is her witty sense of humor.  Before joining the team, Belen gained her restaurant management knowledge from many years working with her family and gained an extensive amount of experience while living and working in fine dining establishments in San Francisco. When Bull Creek opened, her goal was to re-establish her career in a beautiful atmosphere surrounded by people enjoying themselves. She knew that this is where she wanted to be. Guests and staff alike have come to know and love her for the warmth, kindness, and hospitality that makes everyone feel at home.
